I am a personal and professional advocate for using scientific methodology and rational analysis to explore answers to life’s questions, recognizing that emotional connections to people and purposes – passion – is important.

I am currently a Marketing Director and Audience Development consultant available for projects large and small that align with my skill set, availability and values. 

I have been Program Manager, Audience Development for SelectScience Ltd in its marketing technology roadmap upgrades.  Previously I was Marketing Director for LeadDev, an online media publishers and events business that serves the engineering leadership community. Prior to that I was Marketing Director at Kaldor Ltd/ Pugpig, the technology platform for digital publisher providing mobile app and website products for publishers.  I have worked as an independent marketing and publishing consultant working with clients large and small to deliver their business strategies.  I’ve worked with the Church Times on developing their strategy for growth.  Other past clients include serving in a Marketing Director role for Brilliant Publishing, a new media company behind Brilliant Brainz, a monthly magazine for primary school students that encourages creativity and critical thinking in children aged 6 to 11.

Previously I’ve held the role of Head of Data Science for New Scientist, the world’s most read weekly science and technology news magazine and international media brand.  In my 12 year tenure at the organization I also served as Audience Development Marketing Manager for  New Scientist globally in London as well as Brand Marketing Manager in the US for New Scientist Jobs and ScienceJobs.com.  Earlier in my career I worked for the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, promoting economic development efforts in support of the biotechnology industry in the state.  In other words, I’m a business advocate/ microphone/ communicator for awesome, geeky, cool science and technology.  I currently live in London, United Kingdom.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Biological Sciences concentrating in Molecular Biology and Genetics. I also completed a minor in Communication as part of my curriculum within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.  I attended Master’s degree level courses at Harvard University in Molecular Biology and lived in the Cambridge and greater Boston areas of Massachusetts for several years.

I’m originally from Hicksville, New York and am the daughter of Robert and the late Elizabeth (Betsy) Karman.  I am a proud older sister to 4 now grown men, aunt to many nieces and nephews, partner to my husband and mother of twins and one more.

In my spare time, I’ve served as captain of Clapham Softball Club The Mob, which competes in the Greater London Softball Mixed League under the British Softball Federation.
